The University of Texas at Arlington Police Department is accepting applications for current openings of officer and police cadet. Applications will be accepted until July 23, 2021. Written test will take place on the UTA campus. Available dates to be announced.

REGISTRATION/APPLICATION PROCESS

Process begins with the applicant going to https://www.uta.edu/police and following the prompts at the "Join Our Team" employment link to register. Registrations received after COB Friday, July 23, 2021 will not be accepted. Specific questions may be directed to policerecruiter@uta.edu . Once registration is complete, an email containing a one page questionnaire will be sent within one week. Once the questionnaire is returned, directions for the testing, physical assessment requirements, required documents list and personal history statement will be emailed.

POLICE OFFICER

Responsible for law enforcement duties for the protection, safety and welfare of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and all property under the control and jurisdiction of The University of Texas System, including primary law enforcement jurisdiction in all counties where the UT System has real property interest and general law enforcement jurisdiction in all other Texas counties. Exercises independent judgment and discretion within the limits prescribed by law, Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents, institutional rules and regulations and the Office of the Director of Police (ODOP)/University of Texas System Police (UTSP) departmental policies and procedures.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

Salary Range: Cadets in the academy $58,000.00. After successful completion of academy and field training, $62,000.00. TCOLE officer certified applicants start at $62,000.00 or more, DOQ. Out of state certified officers will need to contact TCOLE and apply for reciprocal licensing to qualify for licensed DOQ salary level. Vacation and Sick Leave accrued at eight hours each per month. Fourteen paid holidays were authorized for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Eight hour shifts with shift differential pay of $130 monthly for 2nd and 3rd shifts. All equipment, including weapon, is furnished. Benefits package including medical, dental, vision, pre-tax flexible spending, and supplemental life insurance offered. Retirement is through Teacher Retirement System. Supplemental retirement and disability insurance plans also offered. Specific benefit details available on request. Tuition reimbursement available after 1 year of service (some stipulations apply).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School graduation or GED. Meet minimum licensing requirements for TCOLE. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license not subject to suspension or become licensed in Texas prior to hire date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a TCOLE approved officer academy prior to the potential hire date, or active TCOLE peace officer license, or 60 credit hours/Associates degree from an accredited institution of higher education. College preference may be waived for 2 or more years of honorable active duty service in the US Armed Forces.
